  1. Lots of comments on this one. It was truly a "sitting on the edge of your seat" video this time. I have to say how lucky this patient is to have you. I can only imagine the pain and itching. Absolutely miserable!! If everyone had a Rhys Barber in their life, how much better the world would be.

  2. That poor patient…can only imagine how annoying that was to have in his ear…but never fear aint no valley low enough you cant cant reach!

  3. Custard skin, indeed! Your analogies are always spot on. I don't know if you are into anime at all, but whenever you mention spores, I get visuals from Nausicรคa of the Valley of the Winds by studio Ghibli. Your narration got me on the edge of my seat, like a good sports commentator would. Only, yours is the only 'sport' in interested in. Great vid. Thank you!

  4. Hi Dr. Barber. THAT looks very painful. It was hurting me, but I think you did a great job. Thank again for sharing.๐Ÿ™‹

  5. I love how into this one you got!! You sounded like a sports commentator ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ’œ wonderful job. Would enjoy seeing this ones follow up appointment

  6. Good gracious, you had me on the edge of my seat! I felt like I was watching a footie match! Great, great job. Iโ€™m sure the patient is pleased as peaches to have that removed!! ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ

  7. I normally donโ€™t like speaking during videos, but I always love your narration. Itโ€™s not only informative, but you add so much personality and drama – itโ€™s like youโ€™re telling a story, and Iโ€™m hooked! I especially love that even though youโ€™ve done the extraction, you donโ€™t always remember whatโ€™s going to happen so you join in with our excitement – โ€œoh, is it going to come out in one piece?โ€ Or โ€œletโ€™s see if we can get this bit with suctionโ€ etc.

  8. This was exciting! I was on the edge of my seat! I had to laugh when you said you were catching your breath, because I realized I was holding mine!

  9. It reminds me of โ€œI dream of Genieโ€ when her bottle sucks her in… that used to scare the ๐Ÿ’ฉout of me as a kid!

  10. From 13:00–13:37 I went back to watch it in slow motion. It really is incredible! That patient really was a brave soul as his eardrum looks very angry. Great job Mr. Rhys!

  11. I thought I was watching the F1 race with Michael Schumacher and Kimi Raikkonen neck to neck towards the chequered flag.

  12. Gee Whiz!! I about had a heart attack!! Excellent work as usual Dr. Barber! And thank you for showing us the contents of the tank!

  13. I was unimpressed by the first picture. But i love all you off course i watched it

Thank you for such a loving careful job. Well done

  14. This man has a voice like melted chocolate and I love his commentary , he is so informative. Thank you Rhys for a great video.

  15. I have a question my question is how do you know your ears are clocked with too much wax if you can still hear? Thank you

  16. What a great video. Kudos to you and the client. I also love how your commentary is so suspenseful…like you weren't there for it and don't know what happens lol

  17. I really understand now why your arm and hand would get so tired. You did such an excellent job! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ’

  18. Would love to know how the patient reacted to being able to hear again, and at what point in the procedure that happened.

  19. That was a triumph. I have seen these fungal removals before – always under general anesthesia. The fact that you helped this person in your office is fantastic,. You helped him heal and helped him feel, and hear, better in the mean time. Awesome video.

  20. I watch these videos on my phone. At times I find myself twisting it this way and that trying to get a better view and then realizing itโ€™s not doing any good. Anybody else do that?

  21. i have no words for this one!! your commentary was peeeeerfect ๐Ÿ˜‚ i was clenching my jaw the entire video!!

  22. Unimpressive?!?! Really Rhys!! U r so freaking amazing!! The sturdiness of your hands, ur attention to detail, your โ€œbedside mannerโ€ is IMPECCABLE!! Iโ€™m TOTALLY impressed.. but then again, Iโ€™m ALWAYS in awe of what u do and HOW you do it. And to hear the excitement in your voice really amps it up!! Great job as always!! ๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘‘ of was wax removal!! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ

  23. Oh my gosh, I was holding my breath at one point. I felt like I was watching a tight horse race. The suspense was totally emence. You are the best.

  24. What a great video! Your genuine care and passion for your work is evident and Iโ€™m cheering for the patient along with you. Not to mention Iโ€™ve learned so much since Iโ€™ve started watching the channel.

  25. Superb video and an intelligent, beautifully presented commentary that really added to the quality. Bravo! Fascinating to see a different issue, fungal ear infection, explained and tackled with such skill and clarity.

  26. Spores and custard! blech For the first time, I had to bail out on a video. But as Arnold Schwarzenegger said in The Terminator, "I'll be back."

  27. DR. RHYS, do you ever remove the hair from the ear for a better view. New subscriber, my hubby and I love your channel. Hello from Carmel, Indiana.

  28. I felt heartily sorry for this patient. I bet they were relieved after you had cleared all that nastiness, your patience is admirable.

I have a couple of questions. Are fungal infections in the ear common? What causes such infections?

Thanks so much for entertaining and educating us Rhys ๐Ÿ™‚

  29. That was edge of the seat viewing! Your commentary was particularly good on this one Mr Barber. And the patient must feel so much better for your work โ˜บ๏ธ

  30. I love how excited you got during the video. It was like you were calling a ballgame!! Great work, Rhys!
Also, just curious, what would cause a fungal infection in the ear canal? And what type of fungus might it be? Poor patient! I canโ€™t imagine how itchy that would feel. I would definitely be using Q tips to scratch!!! I absolutely despise itching! Canโ€™t imagine how awful that would be-an itch one cannot scratch! ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

  31. When itโ€™s this suspenseful, I stop breathing. I could have died watching this LOL ๐Ÿ˜‚. Thanks heaps Rhys. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ’™

  32. I found myself tilting my phone trying to help you negotiate the angles! Thank goodness you were able to help this patient. ๐Ÿ’™

  33. That eardrum looks as irritated I was while watching this video. You, Rhys, must be the most patient person on the planet!

  34. I really liked your comment toward the end, โ€œHereโ€™s the obligatory tank shot.โ€ Poor patient though. Having had athleteโ€™s foot, I can imagine (sort of) the itchiness of which you mentioned. Ugh ๐Ÿ˜‘

  35. I just now paused the video and looked at the tip of my small finger and I must say you have a tough job. I've always admired what you do now I have more than respect for the tedious job you have. I feel for this person, there ear infection must be so sore and I'm sure painful.๐Ÿ˜” GOD Bless them๐Ÿ’–

  36. How much does a procedure like this cost? My girlfriend lost hearing in one ear and is losing it in the other. Any info will help? Thank you for the Awesome Video

  37. Hi Rhys, when youโ€™re working with a patient with a fungal infection do you worry about the spread of the spores or cross contamination because of how close you have to be to the patient? I know you wear gloves, but do you use full PPE for cases like this?

  38. I sneezed while watching and realized how horrific that would be during this procedure. Helps drill into the mind just how delicate and incredible this procedure was done.

  39. Every time it looked like the skin would peel away, I caught myself tensing up my whole body in anticipation. By the video's end, I needed a shoulder rub to release some of the tension! What a great removal!

  40. Hook line and sinker, this video was so interesting!!! Did indeed look at my pinky, almost forgot to breath due to the suspense๐Ÿ˜…

  41. Rhys worked his way through audiology school as a golf announcer. ๐Ÿ˜†. He truly is a soothing force in our chaotic world of Brexit, Turkey, and Trump.
